10th Blog
I think this is my 10th blog! I should have been blogging all along, but I usually didn't think of it, until the day of a face-face session. I think it is something you have to get in the habit of doing.
Survey
I am thinking of making a survey questionnaire in Google Drive to gauge how teachers, administrators, students, and parents think of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Ultimately, I believe BYOD will be common. It would be interesting to see stakeholders' opinion and level of readiness to consider BYOD.
Twitter update
I am using Twitter more and more to keep up with the news and politics. I follow TED, too. I have been tweeting a good bit lately in the evening, commenting on items related to the 2nd Amendment, spending reduction, etc. I think Twitter is a good release, a good way to comment on things and get stuff off your chest. I keep it pithy, but clean. My Twitter name is @DaleHigdon, if you have an account and want to follow me. I still have not used Twitter in a school role.
Use of iPad to deliver instruction
OK, so I have a special needs student who is not taking the AAA, that we have just moved to the self-contained environment for 4 classes. He will be assessed using the ARMT+, so that means he must have instruction in the content area for those classes from a HQ teacher. Since the regular teachers can't come to the self-contained classroom and teach him, I decided that the use of technology could be the vehicle for delivery of instruction. So, I had a little meeting with the teachers involved, and a teacher who does a lot of uploading to Edmodo, uses Show Me, etc. to figure out how to implement the idea. At first, I thought Face Time would be good, because it would be live, but it seemed to everyone like a better idea for the teachers to use Show Me, or just use the video recording feature on the iPad to record the show and tell part of the class, the instruction part, then upload it to Edmodo. This way the self-contained teacher can pull up Edmodo for the student, so he can get the instruction from his actual teacher, and pause it, rewind/rewatch, etc. If this works well, it could be applied to a PACE or homebound situation. I told the teachers in the meeting, that if they found an even better way to get the instruction to the student via technology, to share it. A work in progress!
Last home basketball game tonight
We are playing SMS tonight (last home basketball game). I will be here at school, as I am the concession stand guru administrator. I wish I could be with our PLU class. I hate that I missed our last on site session, too. Good luck tonight! This makes 6 of 10 required blogs, now.
Behind on my blogs!
Hey everyone,
I got behind on my blogs! I think this is number 5 of the 10 minimum blogs required. It seems like I stay busy, though, as you do, too, I'm sure.
Have a great day!

OK, so I now have a Twitter account. I have not tweeted yet, though. I am following Fox News, Glenn Beck, TED, and the NRA. I will probably add some of the names Vicky gave in the Hangout, soon.
