Mobile Education Guide
I just finished reading the guide on using mobile devices in education. It was informative and gave a list of some apps/resources for elementary and high school. Also, it addressed the issue of educating parents on the use of mobile devices in the classroom. I am still tentative regarding the BYOD concept. It seems that it is inevitable, though. These devices are what kids use to find info outside the classroom and how we adults find info that we are looking for, so they could be great, relevant resources. I just worry about the misuse of them on school grounds to the extent that the school will have to address social media issues (cyberbullying, inappropriate content/communication) that currently happen off campus. Liability for schools will be increased. Good digital citizenship will need to be emphasized, modeled, and enforced for these devices to be used constructively. Of course, these are my opinions.

I agree, modeling will be important. I also think that the equal access would be an issue for some Title I schools. I guess the government would step as they have with cell phone, free internet, etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. You can tell that I am behind on my blogging. I usually remember about the blogging requirement on the drive to the PLU training.
